Cycle Sisters: A Fact or Myth?
Ever noticed how you and your best friend seem to get your periods around the same time every month? You joke about being “cycle sisters” syncing in moods, cravings, and cramps. But is menstrual synchrony really a thing, or just one of those comforting coincidences we like to believe in?Let’s find out. Where the Idea Began The concept of menstrual synchrony goes way back. In 1971, psychologist Martha McClintock published a study suggesting that women living together (like college roommates) tended to have their cycles align over time, thanks to pheromones or chemical signals influencing hormonal rhythms. The study sparked curiosity and decades of conversation and even gave rise to the term “McClintock Effect.” What Science Says Now Fast forward to modern research and the results aren’t as romantic.Multiple studies have tried to replicate McClintock’s findings, but most couldn’t confirm a consistent pattern. Here’s what science suggests: Cycle lengths vary naturally. Your period might be 26 days, your friend’s 31, which means overlap can happen occasionally just by chance. Try our Cycle Sync Combo support every stage of your flow, from light to heavy, no matter your cycle length. Hormones work independently. There’s no solid biological mechanism proving pheromones can truly sync menstrual cycles. Confirmation bias plays a role. We tend to notice when our periods align, but ignore when they don’t. So while the “Cycle Sisters” theory sounds heartwarming, it’s more myth than medical fact. But Here’s the Beautiful Part Even if our bodies don’t literally sync, our experiences often do.We support each other through cramps, moods, and mid-day chocolate cravings. We encourage each other to try new products, rest when needed, and celebrate being in tune with our cycles — in our own ways. That’s what true Cycle Sisterhood is about — empathy, not exact timing. So next time you’re sharing those “same day” PMS memes, gift your sister a pair of Nushu Period Wonderwear made with ultra-soft bamboo fabric and 4-layer leak-lock protection that keeps you both comfortable through every mood and moment. Learn moreCustomer Spotlight: How I manage my excruciating cramps!
Dealing with period pain is no joke, and everyone has their own way of managing those crampy, uncomfortable days – Whether it's curling up with a heating pad, trying out the latest wellness trends, or simply pushing through with a little extra self-care! It is a shared experience that connects us all🩸💜. So we’re diving into real tips, tried-and-tested remedies from our amazing community—because let’s be honest, we could all use a little extra support when cramps come knocking!👯 In conversation: Nandini Singh, 23, Delhi Nushu: How bad do your cramps get? If you had to rate them on a scale of ‘Barely Noticeable’ to ‘Soul-Sucking’?Nandini: Soul-Sucking for sure!! I’ve had certain health concerns due to which they’re worse but they absolutely feel like death. Nushu: Has the intensity changed with time & age?Nandini: My cramps have gotten worse with age! You would think you would get used to them but it still hurts. Nushu: Have you ever had to cancel plans because of period pain?Nandini: Oh for sure! I try not to if its important of course, but I also remind myself that its unrealistic to expect myself to function like normal when I’m in too much pain. Occasionally, I might pop a pain-killer, but that’s a last resort. I try to avoid them for the most part. Nushu: How do you adjust your daily routine when experiencing period discomfort?Nandini: I don’t really have an outdoorsy job fortunately, so even if I’m on my period, I usually get to work in a comfortable setting. I used to pop pills and sleep off. Now I align my diet with what my body needs through magnesium enriched foods, anything dark chocolate and really warm things throughout the day. And also, REST. As much as possible. Nushu: What’s your go-to remedy for dealing with cramps? Have you tried any cramp-relief products? Nandini: I’ve tried a bunch of home remedies to be honest, but I believe, the best & the most effective home remedy is to keep sipping a lottt of hot water or sometimes a Chamomile tea mix for the feels! And also consume an unhealthy amount of dark chocolate. Surprisingly, that works! Lately though, I bought your holy cramp essential oil roll-on, and that’s doing magic! I’ve used one before, but that one wasn’t as effective, so I was skeptical. When a friend of mine got it for herself, that’s when I tried it & got one for myself! It actually smells so goood! Then you launched the heating pad, Snuggles, and I got that too! What I really like about Snuggles is that it’s so soft & “portable” in terms of design. Sure a regular heat pad will do the job too, but this one just looks much cuter so I don't mind using it in office too. It's easy to heat, has that soft cover so it actually feels good and doesn’t end up burning my skin either! I end up sleeping with it all day & all night. Nushu: What’s one self-care ritual you swear by during your period? Nandini: There are two: 1. I always keep a flask of hot water, my fave mug, along with my roll-on & heating pad beside me – keep the essentials handy, even when I'm on-the-go.2. I also make sure to stretch every now and then. That helps with cramps to some extent, but more so, it helps me get out of my head, which I really need on my period. Nushu: If you could give one piece of advice to someone struggling with painful periods, what would it be? Nandini: These are a few things that worked for me in combination, but I’m sure different solutions might work for different people. If the cramps get too bad – please see a doc, there’s only so much heat therapy, oils & dark chocolate can do for you. — Managing period pain is all about finding what works best for you. We hope these insights help you feel a little less alone on those tough days and maybe even inspire you to try something new!✨ Got your own cramp-busting secret? We’d love to hear it—because when it comes to periods, sharing is caring!

Learn more(Realistic) Cycle-Friendly Resolutions to Crush!!!
The New Year is finally here — a playground for our optimistic resolutions to run wild. We promise to wake up at 5 a.m, eat a green salad everyday🥬, and meditate until we levitate!🧘♀️ Until life (and your cycle) shows up with its own agenda, so lets skip the unrealistic fluff and dive into some *realistic*, cycle-friendly goals for 2024! 1. Track Your Cycle Like a Detective 🕵️♀️ Still playing menstrual roulette and hoping Aunt Flo doesn’t crash an important day? Let 2024 be the year you nail down your body’s schedule. Use an app 📱, a journal 📔, or even sticky notes—whatever works. Tracking helps you decode patterns: energy highs 💃, PMS lows 😤, and everything in between. ✨ Why it’s realistic: It takes two minutes and can save you from many "why am I crying over this ad?" moments. 💡Pro tip: Treat it like a game. Your body is the mystery & you’re Sherlock, solving it one clue (or symptom) at a time. So when you’re dangerously close to your period, our Cheeky Lace is the perfect replacement for a panty liner! 2. Match Your Workouts to Your Cycle 🏋️♀️ High-intensity spin class while bloated? No thanks. During your luteal phase (PMS week), swap hardcore sweat sessions for yoga 🧘♀️ or a brisk walk! When you’re in the follicular phase (hello, energy boost!), crush that HIIT class like a champ!💥 (If you’re wondering why it's important to have a cyclical exercise routine, read this!) ✨ Why it’s realistic: You’re working *with* your body, not against it. Think of it as syncing your Spotify playlist to your mood 🎶—chill beats for yoga, pump-up jams for cardio. 💡 Pro tip: Listen to your body—it knows what you need, and on yoga days, the Lace Bikini protects you from any leaks in Shavasana (with its padding that goes all the way down)! 3. Eat for Your Cycle (Pizza Can Stay) No one’s asking you to give up carbs (we’re not monsters). But small 🤏🏼changes can help. Omega-3-rich salmon 🐟, magnesium-packed dark chocolate 🍫, and iron-loaded greens 🥬 can ease cramps, reduce bloating, and boost energy. ✨ Why it’s realistic: You’re *adding* foods, not banishing your comfort faves. Bonus points for tossing spinach on pizza and calling it gourmet. 💡 Pro tip: Craving salt before your period? Swap chips for roasted chickpeas. Still crunchy, still fun, zero guilt. 4. Say No to Toxic Positivity🌸 Some days, your vibe is "main character energy", and others, it’s “I’m a burrito of sadness”🥹🌯 That’s okay. Give yourself permission to rest, skip a workout, or binge-watch your comfort show. 📺 Self-care is what *you* need, not what Instagram says it should be. ✨ Why it’s realistic: It’s customized care—like giving daal chawal your own twist! 💡Pro tip: Self-care = snacks + soft blankets + zero judgment. Add candles 🕯️ for extra flair. 5. Get those symptoms checked! Painful cramps, extreme fatigue, or hormonal drama that feels like a soap opera? Ladies, gone are the days we grin & bear it!! Get those symptoms checked with a healthcare provider & use natural ways to help relieve those cramps (we have a solution). Your body isn’t being “dramatic”—it’s asking for support. ✨ Why it’s realistic: Your health is non-negotiable. An annual check-up can flag early symptoms of chronic conditions & ensure you are your healthiest 💡 Pro tip: Keep a symptom log on your period tracker – handy & resourceful! 6. Celebrate Tiny Wins (Confetti Optional) 🎉 Ate the brownie instead of the banana? Skipped leg day? Called in sick right before a meeting? Who cares?! Progress isn’t a straight line; it’s a squiggly, glorious mess. Celebrate every small step—confetti optional, snacks mandatory. ✨ Why it’s realistic: Perfection is overrated, and frankly, exhausting. 💡 Pro tip: Dance it out 🕺 every time you hit a milestone, no matter how small. It’s your party! Final Thoughts: Ditch the Unicorn Goals 🦄 This year, forget resolutions that feel like they belong in a fairy tale. Set goals that align with your cycle, your energy, and *your life*. When you work *with* your body instead of against it, every month feels less like a battle and more like a Beyoncé-level performance 🎤✨. Here’s to 2025: the year of realistic, cycle-friendly goals. Period. 🎉
Learn moreHow Winter Messes with Your Period (Yep, It’s a Thing)
If you’ve noticed your period acting all weird in winter, let us tell you – you’re not imagining things. Turns out, your menstrual cycle isn’t immune to the cold. From worse cramps to irregular cycles, winter does some sneaky stuff to your body! So, grab your heating pad, and let’s dive into the why & how of winters wrecking your🩸vibe. ❄️Winter = fewer daylight hours = less vitamin D The "sunshine vitamin" keeps your bones happy and your hormones balanced. 🌻 When your vitamin D dips, your reproductive hormones (like estrogen and progesterone) can start acting up, making your period irregular or longer. So, if your period’s gone MIA or is playing hide and seek, the winter sun—or lack of it—might be to blame. 🥺 Then there’s melatonin—the sleepy-time hormone your body makes when it’s dark. Winter’s long nights mean more melatonin, which is great for napping😴 but not so great for keeping your period on track. Too much melatonin can interfere with ovulation. So, if your cycle’s all over the place, thanks, winter. 😪 ❄️Cramps Are Worse? Of Course They Are If your cramps feel like they’ve cranked it up a notch during winter, you’re not imagining things. Cold weather can shrink your blood vessels (yep, even the ones down there), reducing blood flow to your uterus and making cramps feel more intense.🫠 Basically, it’s like a cramp apocalypse. Science backs it up, too—a study in Menstrual Disorders found that women reported worse cramps during colder months. 😓 The good news? Exercise can help. I know, it’s freezing, but even light activity increases blood flow and releases endorphins—your body’s natural painkillers. 🌸 If the fear of leaks are getting in the way, we gotchu covered – Lace Bikini & the Hip Hugger are customer favourites for workouts, since their padding goes all the way back! So, maybe consider a quick stretch instead of curling up under a blanket for 12 hours straight. Maybe. ❄️SAD Times, Literally Winter doesn’t just mess with your body; it messes with your brain, too. Enter Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), that fun little bout of winter-induced melancholy. 😩 Stress from this increases your cortisol levels, which can throw off your hormones and lead to irregular periods. We’ve all experienced this first hand too – when we’ve had a stressful month, our cycle tends to skip a beat! Plus, more painful PMS. 🩸 ❄️Comfort Food? Not as comforting to cramps Winter has a way of making you crave all the comfort foods— hot mac and cheese, anyone? Here’s the catch though: Diets high in salt & sugar can make your period worse. 🍕Salt = Extra bloating 🍩Sugar = Blood sugar crashes So swapping out a gooey brownie for a few bites of dark chocolate can help ease cramps. Still a win, right? ❄️How to Survive the Winter Period Chaos So, what can you do to survive winter’s assault on your period? Here’s the quick survival guide: 1. Get some sun: If you can’t, consider a vitamin D supplement. Your hormones will thank you. 2. Stay active: Even a little bit of exercise can help reduce cramps and keep your hormones balanced. 3. Eat smarter: Swap the salty, sugary snacks for foods rich in magnesium. (Yes, chocolate counts.) 4. Stay warm: Heating pads, hot baths, cozy blankets—whatever keeps you warm will help those cramps chill out. Winter might throw your menstrual cycle off its game, but with a few smart moves, you can keep it from totally ruining your vibe. 💃🏽 And hey, just remember—spring is right around the corner!🌸

Learn moreUnderstanding your lady parts
The female anatomy often remains a mystery – even to us women 🥲 Our science textbooks and those hurried-through lectures in 7th grade might not have helped but hopefully, this article does :) Think of this article as a quick personal dictionary to your lady parts! 📖 Female anatomy includes both external genitals, known as the vulva, and internal reproductive organs like the ovaries and uterus. Interestingly, despite physical differences, all sex organs originate from the same group of cells during foetal (AKA fetal) development, with a baby’s biological sex determined at conception! So first, we’ll break down the external anatomy 🌸 The external female anatomy comprises the pubis and the vulva. 1. Mons Pubis: The mons pubis, or pubic mound, is the fleshy area on the pelvic bone– Basically, where your pubic hair typically grows! 2. Vulva: The vulva (which most of us have wrongly been calling vagina) includes several parts: 👉🏼Labia Majora: The fleshy outer lips on either side of the vaginal opening, usually covered with pubic hair 👉🏼Labia Minora: The inner lips situated inside the outer lips, varying in size and sometimes extending beyond the outer lips👉🏼Clitoris: The tiny button-like fleshy part, is located where the inner lips meet, at the top. It varies in size from person to person. While only the tip is visible, it has two shafts extending inside the body up to 5 inches! It contains millions of nerve endings, which explains why it works like magic when you’re gunning for an orgasm! 👉🏼Clitoral Hood: The fold of skin surrounding the head of the clitoris, protecting it from friction. 🌱Now, the Internal Anatomy Here comes your reproductive organs – we’ll make it super easy, promise. 1. Vagina Most women refer to their vulva as ‘vagina’ but the vagina is a canal connecting the vulva to the uterus. It averages 2.5 to 3 inches in length but expands during arousal. Glands located on either side of the vaginal opening, secrete lubrication to keep the vaginal tissues moist 💦 2. Cervix The cervix is the lower portion of the uterus, a cylindrical tissue separating the vagina from the rest of the uterus. It dilates during childbirth to allow the baby to pass through the vagina😯 3. Uterus The uterus, located in the middle of the pelvic cavity, is a muscular sac that houses the foetus during pregnancy. During the menstrual cycle, its lining thickens with blood in preparation for a fertilised egg. If pregnancy does not occur, the lining sheds, resulting in your period! 🩸 4. Fallopian Tubes The fallopian tubes connect the ovaries to the uterus. Eggs released from the ovaries travel down these tubes toward the uterus for potential fertilisation. An ectopic pregnancy, where a fertilised egg implants in the fallopian tube, is a medical emergency due to the risk of tube rupture ❗ 5. Ovaries The ovaries, egg-shaped organs about the size of almonds, are attached to the fallopian tubes on either side of the body. Most females have two ovaries that produce eggs and 2 suuuper important hormones – estrogen and progesterone. 🫧 (Check out our guide on hormones!) That’s it, folks! 🥳 The female anatomy is an amazing symphony of various organs working together for sexual function, reproduction, and hormone regulation. The shape and size of these organs vary naturally among women & each body might function slightly differently, maintaining regular exercise, diet and regular visits to the gynac are key to keeping your lady bits healthy and happy! 🍉 Sources: https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/health-and-wellness/sexual-and-reproductive-anatomy/what-are-parts-female-sexual-anatomy https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/326898#breasts
Learn moreWhy orgasms are your best friends on your period
Engaging in sex (or solo) during your period isn't everyone's preference, and it can be socially taboo for some. But nature seems to have a different opinion!⚡ There's a reason women often feel more aroused during their period: research has shown that fluctuating estrogen levels can significantly boost libido. Following these natural urges can offer numerous benefits, potentially replacing the need for hot water bottles and painkillers. It's not just sex that provides relief; even masturbation can help. The key is reaching orgasm 😉 💦How can an orgasm alleviate period pain? When you orgasm, your body releases dopamine, which plays a role in pain processing in the brain. Dopamine acts as a natural painkiller by increasing pain tolerance! "Serotonin and dopamine are mood-enhancing hormones released during orgasm, which effectively alleviate menstrual cramps," says Dr. Aruna Kalra, an OB-GYN at CK Birla Hospital, in an interview with Health Shots. This means you can skip the chemical paracetamol and rely on your body's natural pain relief! Double win! Orgasms also boost blood flow, causing more blood to rush to the uterus, helping with cramps 💫 🗓️Apparently, they shorten your period too! Orgasms trigger the release of oxytocin, a hormone that controls uterine contractions. These contractions can help expel menstrual blood faster. Although no studies have confirmed this, some believe it’s likely that menstrual blood is pushed out during orgasms. Makes sense, right? 😌 🩸Not to mention - periods enhance orgasms! The benefits are reciprocal: while orgasms can ease period pain, menstruation can enhance orgasms. During menstruation, increased blood flow and circulation can boost arousal, sensitivity, and pleasure! 😴Some obvious benefits are better mood and better sleep! There's a scientific reason: sex ensures endorphins & melatonin are released, which lower our stress levels, enhance mood and help in a much better REM cycle. If you want to minimise the mess, we suggest wearing your sexiest period underwear (we have some options), and using a toy (or good old fingers!) to pleasure yourself against the fabric! 🪩 It’s the perfect setup for having your best orgasm of the month! It's fun, safe & a perfectly healthy way to spend some time with yourself 🥵 Happy menstruating ;) Sources: https://www.healthline.com/health/healthy-sex/masturbate-on-period#how-to-avoid-a-mess https://www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/article/how-orgasms-help-period-pain#:~:text=Orgasms%20also%20increase%20blood%20flow,better%2C%22%20Dr%20Kalra%20adds.
